Favorite Reads of 2006
Here's a listing of my favorites of all the books I've read in 2006.   Not all were new books in the year I read them but I think each and every one was a genuine pleasure.  Each cover is linked to its Amazon.com page where you can read more about each book and purchase it if you wish.
The Worst Hard Time
A masterful blend of history and the impact on individual lives. This book blew me away. And it won the 2006 National Book Award for non-fiction
Bones
The suspense in this book will make your teeth ache. I could hardly breath as I turned the pages. It was the first Jan Burke I've read and now I have to read them all.
Marley & Me
I laughed. I cried. I loved my own dog even more after reading this book.
Panic
What an appropriate title! My first Jeff Abbott but it sure won't be my last.
The Lincoln Lawyer
I approached this book with trepidation since it wasn't a Harry Bosch book and I just love Harry. But I after reading just a few pages that didn't matter at all. An Edgar Award Finalist.
Vanish
Another in the Maura Isles/Jane Rizzoli series--and maybe the best one yet. A real page-turner. An Edgar Award nominee.
No Second Chance
This book was recommended to me by a volunteer with the Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library. Great Pick!
In The Best of Families
by Dennis McDougal

Amazon no longer sells this book new. I borrowed a copy from a friend. Insightful look into a bizarre family.
Red Leaves
The agony of the father in this book haunted my thoughts. I cannot imagine being in the position of believing my teenager killed a young child. This book will rip your heart out. Nominated for an Edgar.
